The free events will be held on the first or second Friday of the month, from 12 noon to 2pm, starting on Friday 4 September 2026.

Just come through the main gates and choose your picnic spot.
Other dates are: 2 October, 6 November, 4 December, 8 January, 5 February, 5 March, 2 April, 7 May.

On the same dates, free garden tours of the Government House grounds, hosted by the Friends of the Botanic Gardens, will run from 10.45am to 11.45am. Registrations are required for these guided tours through a booking process at www.governor.sa.gov.au.

Friday 2 October will mark the final Lunch on the Lawns during the term of Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, and will feature two special events. The first, during the garden tours, is the ceremonial planting of the Governor’s rose in the Government House rose garden at 11.40am. The second, during Lunch on the Lawns, is the ceremonial planting of the Governor’s tree, a Wollemi Pine, on the front lawns at 1.15pm.
